Il Rechbergrennen si è trasformato ancora una volta in un vero e proprio spettacolo motoristico. Il classico evento in Stiria ha offerto a decine di migliaia di appassionati, accorsi a Tulwitz durante il weekend, gare di cronoscalata di altissimo livello. Il tracciato di 4,4 km nell’Almenland ha portato i piloti al limite, ma fortunatamente tutti gli incidenti si sono conclusi senza gravi conseguenze. Nonostante le forti piogge abbiano richiesto uno sforzo eccezionale per rendere agibile il paddock e abbiano ritardato la partenza del sabato di un’ora, l’organizzazione è riuscita a completare con successo tutte le sessioni di prova e gara. La massiccia affluenza di pubblico e il live streaming con tre maxi-schermi hanno reso l’atmosfera ancora più straordinaria.

Nella lotta per la vittoria assoluta, il giovane francese Kevin Petit ha brillato con la sua Nova NP 01-2 C Honda Turbo, migliorando costantemente e stabilendo un nuovo record del tracciato durante la prima manche. Alla fine ha vinto con 0,68 secondi di vantaggio sul pluri-campione europeo Christian Merli, che con la sua Nova NP 01-2 C Cosworth ha a sua volta stabilito un nuovo record nella seconda manche.

Il podio è stato completato dallo spagnolo Joseba Iraola Lanzagorta (Nova NP 01-2 C Honda Turbo), seguito dal francese Sebastien Petit e dalla leggenda italiana delle cronoscalate Fausto Bormolini.

Il sesto posto assoluto è andato all’austriaco (di Vorarlberg) Christoph Lampert, mentre il giovane tedesco Benjamin Noll, al debutto con l’Osella FA30 Zytek, ha chiuso settimo.

L’ottava posizione assoluta è stata conquistata dal vincitore tra le vetture Turismo, lo svizzero Reto Meisel su Mercedes SLK 340 Judd. A seguire, il ceco Dan Michl, tornato dopo anni di assenza con la sua potente Lotus Elise Hartley, e il macedone Igor Stefanovski su Ferrari 488 Challenge.

Quarto tra le vetture Turismo è stato il croato Domagoj Perekovic (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9), seguito dal bavarese Jörg Weidinger (BMW Z4 GT3). Sesto il padrone di casa Kevin Raith (Porsche 992 GT3 Cup).

Completano la Top 8 dei Turismo il polacco Szymon Piekos (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9) e l’italiano Antonino Migliuolo (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9), entrambi protagonisti di ottime prestazioni. Nono l’austriaco Jürgen Halbartschlager (VW Golf 17 Turbo), mentre decimo si è classificato il veterano sloveno Milan Bubnic (Lancia Delta Integrale).

The Rechberg Race once again turned into a true motorsport spectacle. The classic event in Styria offered tens of thousands of fans, who traveled to Tulwitz this weekend, top-level hill climb racing. The 4.4 km track in Almenland pushed drivers to their limits, but fortunately, all incidents ended without major consequences. Despite heavy rains requiring a massive effort to lay down wood chips in the paddock and delaying Saturday’s start by an hour, the organizers successfully completed all planned training and race runs. The massive fan attendance and the live stream with three video walls created an unforgettable atmosphere.

In the battle for the overall win, the young Frenchman Kevin Petit stood out with his Nova NP 01-2 C Honda Turbo, steadily improving over the weekend and breaking the 2024 track record in Race 1. He ultimately won with a 0.68-second lead over multiple European Hill Climb Champion Christian Merli, who also set a new track record in Race 2 with his Nova NP 01-2 C Cosworth.

Completing the podium was Spain’s Joseba Iraola Lanzagorta, also driving a Nova NP 01-2 C Honda Turbo, followed by the experienced Frenchman Sebastien Petit and Italian hill climb legend Fausto Bormolini.

Sixth place went to Christoph Lampert from Vorarlberg, while young German Benjamin Noll, debuting with the Osella FA30 Zytek, finished seventh.

The top eight was completed by the touring car overall winner, Swiss Reto Meisel, in his spectacular Mercedes SLK 340 Judd. Behind him were Czech Dan Michl, returning after years of absence with his brutal Lotus Elise Hartley, and North Macedonian Igor Stefanovski with a Ferrari 488 Challenge.

Fourth among touring cars was Croatia’s Domagoj Perekovic (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9), followed by Bavarian driver Jörg Weidinger (BMW Z4 GT3). Sixth was local hero Kevin Raith (Porsche 992 GT3 Cup).

The Top 8 touring car rankings included Polish driver Szymon Piekos (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9) and Italian Antonino Migliuolo (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9), both delivering great performances. Ninth place went to Austrian Jürgen Halbartschlager (VW Golf 17 Turbo), while Slovenian veteran Milan Bubnic (Lancia Delta Integrale) completed the Top 10.
